What a women’s health visit covers for Plainfield patients

Think of it as same-day care for a problem that is bothering you now, rather than a yearly gynecology exam. Women come in for burning when they pee, a possible exposure to a sexually transmitted infection, unusual discharge or itching, or mild discomfort low in the belly.

Some answers come during the visit itself. We do urinalysis here, and when the clinician wants blood work, it is drawn in our building and sent to an outside lab, so there is no second stop. The main women’s health page describes the service in full.

We are an urgent care, not an OB-GYN practice, so ongoing pregnancy care belongs with an obstetrician. Will County residents without one can call the Will County Community Health Center at 815-727-8670, which lists prenatal care at its Joliet office.

STD testing near Plainfield, IL

Yes, you can walk in for STD testing at our Bolingbrook clinic with no appointment. Testing covers common STIs, the visit stays confidential, and self-pay is an option. Certain results are available the same day, while others need an outside lab and take longer.

Screening follows a schedule based on age and risk, even when you feel fine. Per the CDC’s STI testing guidance, every sexually active woman under 25 should have a gonorrhea and chlamydia test once a year. Past 25, yearly testing still makes sense for some women, including those with a new partner, several partners, or a partner diagnosed with an STI. Everyone ages 13 to 64 should have at least one HIV test.

Plainfield straddles Will and Kendall counties, and both see these infections every year. The Illinois Department of Public Health’s county figures count 2,455 chlamydia cases and 626 gonorrhea cases in Will County for 2022, plus 464 chlamydia and 95 gonorrhea cases in Kendall County. Our STD testing page explains the service in more detail.

Same-day care for UTI symptoms

Urinalysis runs in our clinic, so a urine test during the visit can help show whether burning, urgency or cloudy urine points to an infection. MedlinePlus lists these common bladder infection signs:

  • Burning or pain while you pee
  • Needing to urinate often and urgently, even just after you’ve gone
  • Urine that looks cloudy or bloody, or has a strong smell
  • Cramping or pressure low in the belly or in the back

When a UTI may have reached the kidneys

Fever above 101°F, chills and shaking, pain in the side or groin, and nausea or vomiting can mean the infection has spread upward. Get seen the same day. MedlinePlus notes that someone who is very sick and can’t take medicine by mouth or drink enough fluids may need hospital care, so go to the ER in that case.

Once treatment begins, bladder infection symptoms usually settle within a day or two, according to MedlinePlus, while kidney infection symptoms can linger a week or more. If there’s any chance you’re pregnant, tell the clinician before you start antibiotics. There is more on our UTI symptom page.

Can I get a pregnancy test or Pap test near Plainfield?

Phone us at (630) 914-5373 first and ask whether a pregnancy test or a Pap test can be done during your visit. Routine cervical screening is usually scheduled with a gynecologist or primary care doctor rather than handled as urgent care.

Many women test at home first. MedlinePlus says urine pregnancy tests are 97 to 99 percent accurate a week or two after a missed period, and first-morning urine usually holds more of the pregnancy hormone, hCG, than urine later in the day. A test taken too early can read negative by mistake, so repeat it a week later if your period still hasn’t started.

The state’s Breast and Cervical Cancer Program provides free Pap tests, pelvic exams, breast exams and mammograms to eligible Illinois women 21 to 64 who lack insurance or carry a plan that won’t cover screening, with no income requirement. The program’s March 2026 directory assigns Will and Kendall counties to the same lead agency, VNA Health Care in Aurora (630-892-4355, ext. 8535), so Plainfield residents on either side of the county line call the same office.

Driving from Plainfield to our Bolingbrook clinic

The trip from downtown Plainfield is about 15 minutes and 9.8 miles. Main Street (IL 126) carries you east to the I-55 North ramp; exit at 267 for IL 53 and turn left onto South Bolingbrook Drive. The clinic is just under a mile up.

Where you live in Plainfield changes the drive. The U.S. Census Bureau estimates the village had 50,043 residents in 2025, about 5,000 more than in 2020, and 3,390 of them live in the Kendall County part on the west side. From the Grande Park area on that side, the route runs east on 135th Street, then Pilcher Road and Essington Road to I-55, and takes about 27 minutes without traffic.

Our one location is in Bolingbrook, so plan on the drive even if a search for a Plainfield walk-in clinic brought you here. Our page on urgent care near Plainfield covers the other illnesses and injuries we treat.

Questions and answers

Questions we hear often

Still not sure? Call (630) 914-5373 and we will help you decide.

Where can I get STD testing near Plainfield, IL?

At our clinic on South Bolingbrook Drive, about 15 minutes from downtown Plainfield. Testing covers common STIs, and no appointment is needed. The visit is confidential. Some results are back the same day, while others come from an outside lab. Self-pay is available.

Can I get a pregnancy test near Plainfield?

Please phone (630) 914-5373 and ask if a pregnancy test can be included in your visit. If you test at home, MedlinePlus says urine tests are 97 to 99 percent accurate a week or two after a missed period. If you are pregnant and have bleeding, belly pain or cramping on one side, go to an emergency department, and call 911 if the pain is severe or you feel faint.

Is there a walk-in clinic in Plainfield?

Pioneer Physicians has no Plainfield office. For Plainfield, that means a 15-minute drive by Main Street and I-55 to our Bolingbrook clinic at 148 S Bolingbrook Dr. It keeps 8 AM to 8 PM hours all week, and walk-ins don’t need an appointment.

Do you do Pap smears?

Please call us to ask whether a Pap test can be included in your visit. Routine cervical screening usually happens with a gynecologist or primary care doctor. Uninsured women ages 21 to 64, and those whose plan won’t pay for screening, may qualify for a free Pap test from the state’s Breast and Cervical Cancer Program (IBCCP).

Can urgent care treat a UTI the same day?

Often, yes. We run urinalysis in the clinic, so the clinician can review your urine during the visit before deciding on treatment. Fever above 101°F, side pain, chills or vomiting can mean the kidneys are involved, so come in promptly. Someone who is very sick or can’t drink enough fluids should go to an ER instead.

Are you open on weekends?

Yes. Saturdays and Sundays follow our usual schedule: open 8 AM to 8 PM, with walk-ins welcome. We don’t stay open 24 hours. After hours, the online booking page shows the following day’s times, and Edward Emergency Center in Plainfield handles emergencies around the clock.
