Pioneer Physicians Urgent Care in Bolingbrook
We are a walk-in urgent care clinic on South Bolingbrook Drive (IL 53) in Bolingbrook. People search for us as Pioneer Physicians, Pioneer urgent care or by our web address, pionmedical.com, and every one of those names means this one clinic at 148 S Bolingbrook Dr.
Our work is the illness or injury that can’t wait for a regular appointment but doesn’t need a hospital, like a sore throat on a Saturday or an ankle that swelled up after practice. We also offer primary care, so the same clinic can handle a yearly physical or a follow-up visit.

Why choose our clinic
We’re open every day, you can walk in without an appointment, and the most common urgent care tests are done inside our building.
- Every day of the week, 8 AM to 8 PM. Weekend hours match weekday hours.
- No appointment needed, though you can save your spot online if you’d like to plan ahead.
- X-ray on every day we’re open, with splints and crutches on hand. Rapid strep, flu and COVID tests, urinalysis and EKG are done here too.
- Babies, children, teens and adults are all seen here, so a parent and child can be treated at the same clinic.
- Walk-in care and ongoing primary care in the same building, plus physicals, STD testing and DOT exams.
- Medicare, Illinois Medicaid plans and several major insurers are accepted, and self-pay is available. Call to confirm your plan.

The care we offer
We treat sudden illnesses and minor injuries in people of all ages, and we also offer planned visits such as physicals, testing and ongoing care.
For problems that come on suddenly, our walk-in immediate care is for colds, flu, sore throats, earaches, rashes, sprains and injuries that may need an X-ray. MedlinePlus names these same kinds of mild illnesses and minor injuries as problems an urgent care clinic can deal with. Children are seen through our pediatric urgent care.
For planned care, our DOT physicals are done 7 days a week by a certified medical examiner listed on the FMCSA National Registry. Sports, school and annual physicals are also available, along with confidential STD testing (self-pay is an option), flu shots, allergy testing, asthma treatment, women’s health visits and telehealth visits.
We also offer medical weight loss, IV hydration therapy and peptide therapy. Every service has its own page in our full services list.

Tests and X-ray during your visit
X-ray and several rapid tests are done right here, so many problems can be checked during the same visit.
You can get an X-ray any day we’re open, and splints and crutches are kept on hand for sprains and suspected fractures. RadiologyInfo from the ACR and RSNA explains that a bone X-ray is commonly used to find a fracture or a dislocated joint, and calls it the fastest and easiest way for a doctor to assess a broken bone. Read more on our X-ray page.
Rapid strep, flu and COVID tests, a urinalysis and an EKG can be run during the same visit. An EKG records the heart’s electrical activity, as MedlinePlus explains. For blood work, we draw the sample here and an outside lab runs the tests.

Care for babies, children and teens
We see children from infancy through the teen years for the sudden illnesses and minor injuries that can’t wait for a regular checkup.
The American Academy of Pediatrics lists ear pain that may be an infection, a swollen or bruised ankle, flu symptoms in a child who is still drinking and breathing comfortably, and a possible broken bone with no obvious deformity as problems urgent care can address. If your child is struggling to breathe or has a head injury with vomiting or confusion, call 911.
We do not give childhood vaccinations, so routine shots should come from your child’s regular doctor or the county health department. The Will County Health Department offers childhood and adult vaccines to Will County residents at its Joliet, Bolingbrook and Monee locations. In DuPage County, the health department gives childhood vaccines at its Wheaton, Westmont and Lombard offices to children who qualify for the Vaccines for Children program.
The AAP advises parents to set up a medical home, a main practice that keeps a complete record of a child’s health history. Urgent care works best alongside that doctor, for the problems that pop up between checkups.

Urgent care and primary care under one roof
We offer both, so you can walk in for a sudden illness and also come back for ongoing care.
Primary care is the long-term side of medicine: yearly physicals, follow-up visits and care for health problems that need watching over time. Urgent care is built for what comes up suddenly. The AAP points out that urgent care alone is not set up for complex or chronic problems that need the same care team over time, which is where primary care fits.

What we don’t do, and where to go instead
We are an urgent care clinic, not an emergency room, so a few kinds of care are outside what we offer.
- Emergency care. Call 911 for chest pain, trouble breathing, facial drooping or weakness in an arm or leg, seizures, sudden confusion or bleeding that lasts longer than 10 minutes.
- Overnight care. We close at 8 PM and aren’t a 24-hour clinic, but in the evening the online booking page shows next-day visit times.
- CT and MRI scans. A hospital or an imaging center does these.
- Childhood vaccinations. Your child’s doctor or the county health department gives these.
Insurance and paying for your visit
Our accepted plans are Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois, Cigna, Humana, Medicare, UnitedHealthcare and Illinois Medicaid plans, including HFS, Meridian, CountyCare, Molina and YouthCare. Coverage can differ from one plan to the next, so call (630) 914-5373 to confirm your specific plan. Our insurance page links to a page for each insurer.
Without insurance, you can pay for the visit yourself. A self-pay bill is the visit plus any tests you need, so call for current self-pay pricing.
Where you go for a problem that isn’t an emergency can change the bill. According to MedlinePlus, an emergency department visit can cost 2 to 3 times as much as the same care in your provider’s office, and your plan may also charge a higher copay there. The AAP adds that urgent care is often less expensive than the ER.

Questions and answers
Questions we hear often
Still not sure? Call (630) 914-5373 and we will help you decide.
Where is Pioneer Physicians Urgent Care?
Pioneer Physicians Urgent Care is at 148 S Bolingbrook Dr, Bolingbrook, IL 60440. In Bolingbrook, Bolingbrook Drive is also IL 53. From I-55, take exit 267 for IL 53 and head north, and the clinic is less than a mile from the interchange. Put the full address into your map app for turn-by-turn directions.
Is Pioneer Physicians open on weekends?
Yes. Saturday and Sunday hours are the same as the rest of the week, 8 AM to 8 PM. Walk-ins are welcome on weekends too, with no appointment needed. We aren’t a 24-hour clinic, so after 8 PM you can book a next-day visit online. For holiday hours, call (630) 914-5373 before you come.
Can I get a COVID test at Pioneer Physicians in Bolingbrook?
Yes. Rapid COVID tests are done on site during your visit, and we also run rapid flu and strep tests. Walk in any day we’re open with no appointment, or save your spot online first. If you have trouble breathing, chest pain or sudden confusion, call 911 instead of coming to urgent care.
Does Pioneer Physicians offer primary care too?
Yes. Along with walk-in urgent care, we offer primary care, including physicals and follow-up visits for ongoing health needs. That means one clinic can handle a sudden illness and your longer-term care. Call (630) 914-5373 to ask about starting primary care with us.
Can I get blood work at your clinic?
Yes. Blood is drawn here and then sent to an outside lab for testing. Rapid strep, flu and COVID tests, urinalysis and EKG are handled during the visit itself. Send-out results take longer, and the timing depends on the test and the lab, so ask about it when your blood is drawn.
Where can I read reviews of Pioneer Physicians Urgent Care?
Patient reviews are on our Google listing. Search for Pioneer Physicians Urgent Care Bolingbrook on Google or Google Maps to read them, or to leave your own after a visit. If you have a question or a concern about care you received here, call us at (630) 914-5373.
