What urgent care services do we offer in Bolingbrook?

We treat illnesses and injuries that can’t wait, run common tests and X-rays on site, do physicals, and see patients for primary care and a few longer-term services. Every in-person visit happens at our clinic at 148 S Bolingbrook Dr, which is our only location.

You don’t need to work out the right service before you come. If you’re sick or hurt, walk in and tell us what’s wrong. The provider who examines you decides whether you need an X-ray or a rapid test, and both are done here during the same visit.

The sections below group our services by the reason for your visit, with a short note on each and a link to its full page.

Care for illness and injury today

For a new illness or an injury that isn’t an emergency, walk in any day of the week with no appointment.

Walk-in urgent care

Our walk-in immediate care is for problems your regular doctor can’t fit in today: a sore throat, an ear infection, burning when you urinate, a fever, a rash or a sprained ankle. That matches how MedlinePlus describes what an urgent care clinic can deal with: common mild illnesses and minor injuries, including sprains and minor broken bones. Our symptoms guide has a page for each common complaint.

Pediatric urgent care

Pediatric urgent care is for babies, children and teens. Kids get the same on-site X-ray and rapid strep, flu and COVID tests that adults do, so the X-ray or the swab happens during the same visit. We do not give childhood vaccinations, and the section on what we do not offer explains where to get them.

Telehealth visits

With a telehealth visit, you talk with one of our providers without coming to the clinic. It suits questions that can be answered by talking and looking. If your problem needs a hands-on exam, a swab or an X-ray, the next step is an in-person visit.

X-ray, lab tests and EKG in the same visit

X-ray and the common quick tests are done here during your visit, so you don’t need a second stop for them.

X-ray, splints and crutches

We’re an urgent care with X-ray every day we are open. After a fall or a twisted wrist, the provider can check for a broken bone during the same visit, and if you need a splint or crutches, we have both on hand. CT and MRI are not available here, so a hospital or an imaging center handles those scans.

Lab tests and EKG

Our lab testing includes rapid strep, flu and COVID tests, urinalysis and EKG, all done during the visit. For blood work, we draw the sample here and an outside lab runs it, so those results arrive after you leave. If you need blood work, ask whether your test requires fasting before you come in.

STD testing

STD testing checks for common STIs and is confidential. Some results are ready the same day and others go to the outside lab. Self-pay is an option if you’d rather not use insurance.

Physicals for drivers, students and adults

Physicals for commercial drivers, athletes, students and adults are all done here, and DOT exams are available 7 days a week.

DOT physicals

Under federal rule 49 CFR 391.43, only a medical examiner on the FMCSA National Registry can perform a commercial driver’s medical exam. Our DOT physicals are done by a certified examiner on that registry, any day of the week. The exam has to be repeated at least every 24 months, and some drivers need it sooner.

Sports, school and annual physicals

We also do sports, school and annual physicals. According to the Illinois Department of Public Health, the state’s Certificate of Child Health Examination records a child’s exam before preschool, in the year before kindergarten or first grade, on entry to sixth and ninth grade, and whenever a child first enrolls in an Illinois school. Bring the school’s form and your child’s immunization record. Any shots the school asks for come from your child’s doctor or the health department.

Primary care and ongoing health needs

You can see us for checkups and for conditions that need regular attention, alongside same-day sick visits.

Primary care

Primary care covers yearly checkups and the follow-up visits between them. You can use us for both urgent and primary care, or keep your regular doctor elsewhere and come here when something can’t wait. Our article on urgent care vs primary care explains how the two differ.

Flu shots

We give flu shots, and you can call (630) 914-5373 to ask which ages we vaccinate this season. According to CDC flu vaccine guidance, nearly everyone 6 months and older should get a flu vaccine each season, with rare exceptions. The CDC calls September and October generally good months for it, ideally by the end of October.

Allergy testing and asthma treatment

Allergy testing helps show whether an allergy is behind symptoms like sneezing, itchy eyes, hives or a cough that keeps coming back. Asthma treatment is for people whose breathing symptoms need a plan or a check. Severe shortness of breath is an emergency, so call 911 instead of driving in.

Women’s health visits

Women’s health visits give you time with a provider for concerns specific to women. Urinalysis is done on site, which helps when urinary symptoms bring you in. For a specific test or service, call ahead to ask whether we offer it.

Weight loss, IV hydration and peptide therapy

Yes, we offer medical weight loss, IV hydration therapy and peptide therapy at the Bolingbrook clinic.

Medical weight loss means working on your weight with a medical provider instead of on your own. IV hydration therapy gives fluids through a small tube placed in a vein. Peptide therapy has its own page with more detail.

Before starting any of them, ask the provider what the evidence shows, which side effects are possible and what it will cost you. Insurance coverage for these services can differ from coverage for a sick visit, so call to check your plan.

What we do not offer

We do not do CT scans or MRI, we do not give childhood vaccinations, and we are not an emergency room or a 24-hour clinic.

For routine childhood shots, go to your child’s regular doctor or a county health department. The Will County Health Department’s immunization clinic gives childhood and adult vaccines to Will County residents at its Joliet, Bolingbrook and Monee offices. In DuPage County, the health department offers childhood shots at its Wheaton, Westmont and Lombard offices.

After 8 PM, our booking page shows next-day times, so you can reserve tomorrow’s visit that evening. When you aren’t sure whether we offer a test or treatment, call (630) 914-5373 before you come.

Insurance and self-pay

Plans we accept include Aetna, Cigna, Humana, UnitedHealthcare, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois and Medicare. For Illinois Medicaid, we take HFS, Meridian, CountyCare, Molina and YouthCare plans.

Call (630) 914-5373 to confirm your specific plan, because coverage can vary between plans from the same insurer and between services. For people with Medicare, Medicare.gov says Part B covers urgently needed care, and once the Part B deductible is met, you generally pay 20% of the Medicare-approved amount for the provider’s services.

Paying yourself is an option too. You’re charged for the visit plus any tests you need, so call us for current self-pay pricing. See our insurance page and self-pay guide for details.

Do I need an appointment for these services?

No. Walk in any day, weekends included, or reserve a time online before you leave home. In the evening, after 8 PM, the booking page lists times for the next day. DOT physicals are offered 7 days a week as well. A telehealth visit starts with a call to (630) 914-5373.

Is Pioneer Physicians Urgent Care a walk-in clinic?

Yes. We are a walk-in clinic in Bolingbrook, IL, for adults and children, and you never need an appointment for a sick or injury visit. Around here, urgent care, immediate care and walk-in clinic usually describe the same kind of same-day care. Our guide to urgent care vs a walk-in clinic explains where the terms can differ.

Does Pioneer Physicians have more than one location?

No. We have one clinic, at 148 S Bolingbrook Dr, Bolingbrook, IL 60440, and every in-person service on this page happens there. Romeoville, Woodridge, Darien, Lisle and Lemont are each about 10 to 14 minutes away by car. Call (630) 914-5373 if you have a question before you come.

Can I get an X-ray and lab tests in the same visit?

Yes. X-ray is on site every day we are open, and so are rapid strep, flu and COVID tests, urinalysis and EKG, so one visit can cover all of them. Blood work is different: we draw the sample here, an outside lab runs it, and the results reach you after the visit. CT and MRI are not offered here.

Do you give vaccines?

Flu shots, yes. Childhood vaccinations, no. Babies and children get their routine shots from their regular doctor or from the Will County or DuPage County health department. Before coming in for a flu shot, call (630) 914-5373 to ask which ages we vaccinate this season.

Bring a photo ID, your insurance card if you have one, and a list of every medicine, vitamin and supplement you take.
